This is my story

Hi, I’m Raphael.

My life has taken me through different worlds: growing up in the poorer areas of the Philippines, then moving to Australia as a teenager, serving in the Australian Navy after high school, and spending nearly fifteen years in Christian ministry. Those experiences have shaped my interest in people - how we understand ourselves, navigate relationships, and find direction through uncertainty and change.

I know what it is like to start again, to feel lost and uncertain and reconsider the path ahead. Through my own experiences and years spent supporting individuals and families, I’ve learned that people often carry more than others realise. Someone may seem to have things together while quietly facing struggles that are hard to put into words.

My studies in psychology, social work, and theology, alongside my interest in philosophy and leadership, have deepened my curiosity about the beliefs, experiences, and expectations that shape our lives. In our work together, I want to understand how you see your world, what matters to you, and where you feel caught between your own needs and the responsibilities you carry.

My approach

Each person brings a unique story, shaped by their experiences, relationships, beliefs, and circumstances. I take time to understand yours - your journey, what matters to you, and what you’re facing now.

My approach is holistic because I believe our wellbeing and growth are shaped by many connected parts of life. Understanding your concerns within that wider picture helps us find a way forward that makes sense for you.

In both coaching and counselling, we’ll draw on that understanding to decide what to work towards and how. I’ll bring careful listening, thoughtful questions, and practical support, while we build on your strengths and explore what may need to change. There is also room for faith and spirituality if they matter to you.
